In line with the
club’s Strategic Plan 2023-2025 the All Play Inclusion Pilot was initiated to address the following goals:
1. Be a leader in the promotion of
inclusivity and diversity in netball - focusing on making netball a sport
for all by attracting new and many faces to the court, ensuring netball is
viewed as a diverse and inclusive place to play. This includes providing gender
inclusive uniform options and increasing the participation and registration
rates of boys over the next 3 years.
2. Grow and develop netball within the local
Gap community - partnering with local schools and other sporting groups to
increase netball participation and access to opportunities to play and coach at
multiple levels.
3. Re-establishing the Net Set Go
Program – Focus on re-establishing the Term 4 Net Set Go program for
children aged 6 – 9 years at Hilder Rd State School. This focus aims to provide
opportunities for children who are too young to play netball during the regular
season and chance to give netball a try and grow new player numbers
which will filter through competitive age groups.
Within the pilot
of the program (2024) the club delivered the following three projects:
- Boys in Netball
- Teens Social Netball
- New to Netball - Net Set Go
In response to club’s successful implementation of the program and the impacts in the community the club was a finalist in the Inclusion in Netball category for the Netball Qld Awards.
The club will continue to provide the Boys Mentoring program in collaboration with the Qld Suns in 2025, along with delivering netball at The Gap State High School and Net Set Go Summer Programs.
