GRADING ABSENCES

Grading attendance is mandatory. However, if there are extenuating circumstances where you are unable to attend one or both of the grading sessions, please inform the grading convenor (grading@thegapnetball.org.au) no later than midnight Saturday 30 January 2021.

GRADING UP AN AGE GROUP

In some cases it is appropriate for a player to be graded into a higher age classification and the club supports the ability of the Grading Convenor and grading panel to make this determination.

A player will be considered for grading into a higher age classification:

1.     At the instigation of the Grading Convenor based on the advice of a grading panel; or

2.     At the request of a player and/or guardian in the case of a player under 18 years.

A request for consideration at a higher age classification must be received by the Grading Convenor by registration close, 30 January 2021. A request should be accompanied by reasons for the request including the player’s past playing experience or participation in representative teams. Requests should not be based solely on friendship groups.

Upon receipt of a request the Grading Convenor will provide instructions as to which grading sessions should be attended by the player.

The Grading Convenor and grading panel will make the final determination as to the grading of a player seeking to play at a higher age classification in accordance with TGNC grading policy.

Any questions should be directed to the Grading Convenor - grading@thegapnetball.org.au.

SELF-SELECTED TEAMS (OPENS ONLY)

In 2021 the arrangements for self-select teams have changed and are now as follows after being endorsed at the 2020 AGM:

1.    Team nomination must be provided to the Registrar and Grading Convenor by registration close (midnight 30 January 2021)

2.    This is an option for Opens players (Born before/during 2001, with the option for players Born 2002/2003 to move to Opens division

3.    For players of an ability Division 4 or lower (this may be subject to DPNA grading)

4.    Teams are required to nominate a Manager and Coach at time of registration and the Team Manager should advise of same via registrar@thegapnetball.org.au

5.    Minimum of 8 players required to register in a self-selected team

6.    Teams are not required at the club grading day but must attend a mandatory grading session/round robin once teams have been announced, for DPNA grading purposes. This will be held on 16 Feb 2021.

7.    The TGNC Executive has the right to decline/refuse a nomination if this criteria is not adhered to.

If you have any questions, please contact the Registrar - registrar@thegapnetball.org.au.

PARENTS

For those parents who choose to remain at the courts during grading, you will be requested to assist with various volunteer activities, such as preparing and checking equipment for the new season - we are a large Club and there is much to be done to assist your children to take the court. Your player is required to stay with her age group for ease of coordinating the grading games. Parents can be a distraction for players.

GRADING APPEALS

If you wish to appeal a grading decision, please do so in writing to grading@thegapnetball.org.au.

All appeals must be received within two weeks of teams being posted on 13 Feb 2021.
